Born "Bronislawa Florence Sobkiewicz"
"Bertha" was born in Ostrowiec, Poland. She was
born on Dec. 20, 1898. She was the daughter
of Antoni (Anthony) Sobkiewicz and
Marja (Kubiakowska) Sobkiewicz.

The Sobkiewicz's and their children, Bertha, Martin,
Stella, Anna and Charlotte boarded the SS Finland, leaving Antwarp, Belgium
on Aug. 24, 1911. They were one of Millions of familys
that made their entry to the United States of America, through
Ellis Island. Click here for documentation of this.

Bertha's Family

The Sobkiewicz Family
originally settled at 21 Clinton Ave.
In Bridgeport, Connecticut. Bertha was a mere
13 yrs old when she came on the SS Finland with her
parents and siblings. Later, as the children grew up, they moved
away with their new spouses. At this point, I don't have information
on when their parents died or their final resting place(s).
It is our belief that all the children were born in Poland, however,
there is no proof of this currently.
